ellicom at The ACM Canadian Celebration of Women in Computing

The World Economic Forum recently published data regarding workforce demographics, and not-so-surprisingly, women were underrepresented in the technology industries. While women are indeed making waves at global tech companies, there is still a lot more to do globally and locally to address the gender gap in the tech industry. As always, ellicom is deeply committed to ensuring cultural and gender diversity among its global workforce. “There is still a lot of work to be done. Although we are doing things our grandmothers couldn’t have imagined, it is time to do even more so that younger generations believe that they can do whatever it is that they want to do,” says Soula Chronopoulos, President at ellicom.

Time to walk the walk
In line with Soula Chronopoulous’ powerful vision, ellicom is proud to announce its support of and participation at the CAN-CWIC conference, taking place in Montreal on November X, both as a sponsor and speaker. The CAN-CWIC is a one-of-a-kind conference that promotes technical women from across Canada to meet, network and celebrate. The conference will feature keynote speeches, workshops, student sessions, a career fair and more! CAN-CWIC is also a one-of-a-kind opportunity for participants to advance their skills, network with peers and get inspired by the women making a significant impact in the tech industry today.

Virtual reality, from entertainment to training: ellicom and UQAM
In collaboration with Éric Lavallée, NSERC scholarship student, Sophie Callies, R&D manager at ellicom, will be delivering a talk on the use of virtual reality, beyond entertainment. VR applications include healthcare, safety and security and corporate training, which make it an inevitable medium with exceptional and unique features. The conference will also present a 360-degree tour of VR, as well as the evolution and nuances of virtuality. Ms. Callies and Mr. Lavallée will also discuss methods used and challenges encountered in the context of a VR development project led jointly by UQAM and ellicom.

Come by our booth to meet us and learn about ellicom’s innovations, benefits, work culture, and career opportunities. We are actively looking for fearless change makers to join our team and work with our innovation-driven teams, worldwide!
